A new, old book

Last Sunday I bought an old second hand book about needlework. It is VERY outdated, but that doesn't bother me in the least. I love all those old techniques and working them into contemporary work. In this book I discovered a very nice technique called Canadian smocking.

It looks very intricate, but it's actually really easy and fast to do. The one thing that takes the most time, marking out the dots! Also, you need a lot(!) of fabric to make it work. Namely 3 times as much, in length AND width.
I wouldn't make a whole cape just yet, but it'll make for some nice embellishing on my baggie's
